How Long Does Ibm Take to Send Offer Letter

Hi friends,

I am new here and found this forum via Google. First of all, i should appreciate the efforts put in by the board members and administrators in running this helpful board successfully.

I recently attended an interview with IBM on 9th April 2010 and completed both the technical and PDM round on that day itself. The person who interviewed me during the PDM round told me that i will be getting a call from recruiting board and also the offer letter will be sent to me in just 5 days. But it has been 10 working days already and i did not get any e-mail or call from them. I got an e-mail from IBM survey support asking to complete a survey to see whether the interview process is up to the mark. Apart from that, no other intimation on offer letter.

Hoping that i have got placed in IBM i have even put the papers in my current company. I must quit by June 1, 2010. Now, i have only 1 month and 5 days in hand. I read some of the online discussion about IBM offer letter delay and felt that i better not wait for the offer letter and move on to search for other company openings. If i do not find a job before June 1, then i am gonna be jobless. What is your take on this? have you guys (anyone) got IBM offer letter lately?

Sorry dear. You did the greatest mistake job seekers are not supposed to do.

Never resign to current company unless you have hard copy of offer letter in hand.

Not only IBM, any company will take some time in giving offer letters. If they tell 5 days, you should ideally assume 30 days. The companies may have lot of problems internally. Suddenly the requirements may get freezed or project may get cancelled and in such cases, your offer letters may never come to you (there is a good possibility).

It happened to some my friends in almost all MNC companies. There is nothing to blame the companies. They all run on business requirements.

Fine ! You have already committed the mistake. There is no use in regretting that.

My suggestion is to start searching for the job right today. Try to get at least one offer letter in this 1 month. If IBM offer letter comes to you in the meanwhile, well & good. Happy Ending. :)

If not, you will at least have some job to join.

Also try to get in touch with IBM HR department (Call them) and try to enquire about the status. (Don't tell them you already resigned).

Also, if you are going for interviews, you may want to tell you got offer in IBM and so you already resigned, and you are trying for better offer and ready to join immediately if you get a better job profile/offer. (Tell them you are yet to accept IBM offer.)

Otherwise, there may be immediate question of why you resigned already. (They may start to doubt you that your company fired you.)

It all depends on how well you manage and talk to HR intelligently.

Which technology you are working in ?
